Getting The Best Yield from Your Alpaca Fleece

Before sending your fleeces to us please:
  • Remove any faeces
  • Remove and twigs and grass
It is really important to always clean your fleece by removing vegetation and foreign objects before you send it to us, in this way you will get a better quality of yield. If you send your fleeces to us without removing them, then we may have to charge you £25 for doing this. Please note that any moth infested fleeces will be returned at your cost.

Wastage rates vary enormously due to the quality of fibre and the state that it is delivered to us: more vegetation and contamination equals more loss. Average yields are 50 to 70% of weight inwards, however some fleeces that are coarse and/or dirty may only produce 50%.

We advise that you only send the best part of your fleece, if you are unsure, take advice from your shearer. Please inform us if there is more than one year's growth of fleece this makes a difference to how we process the fleece.

You can rest assured that you will get your own fibre back ensuring that you enjoy your own fine fibre products from your own alpacas.

We are able to deal with any amount of fibre from 1kg to 500kg, but bear in mind that the more fibre you send the more cost effective your processing becomes.
